Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Geronimo dos Santos Square Off at UFC 153

Injury Bug Bites Strikes Again; Dave Herman Now Faces Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 162

UFC 153: Aldo vs. Koch is still two months out, but the fight card is filling up fast.

The latest bout added to the card is a heavyweight battle between Gabriel Gonzaga and Geronimo dos Santos, two Brazilians that will be fighting on their home turf on Oct. 13 in Rio de Janeiro.

MMAWeekly.com confirmed that verbal agreements for the bout are in place after Tatame.com first reported the match-up.

Gonzaga (13-6) is on his second run through the UFC, having returned at UFC 142 earlier this year, also in Brazil. It took him just over three minutes to choke out Ednaldo Oliveira, an impressive return that he’d like to build on.

Fighting on his home turf is nothing new for dos Santos (34-14), however. Currently riding a 12 fight winning streak, he has rarely fought anywhere outside of his home country. This will, however, be dos Santos’ first fight in the Octagon.

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and challenger Erik Koch headline the Oct. 13 fight card at the HSBC Arena.
