Alongside new signing Tammy Abraham, Giorgio Furlani was present at Casa Milan to discuss the mercato and the Rossoneri’s new signing.

There are two ways to view the summer. Either you’re a fan, or you’re not. Football is never black and white, but in this case, it is fair to suggest it is.

Milan recruited a new head coach and renovated the team in his vision. Perhaps, the window was spot on, as a window of transition. The opposing argument to this is that the Rossoneri failed to properly offer a window of transition to the new manager.

Joshua Zirkzee, a target for several months, was missed. Youssouf Fofana, a target for several months, was bought right at the end of the mercato for double what the Diavolo were initially offering.

The opposing view of this again is that Milan refused to be at the mercy of an agent and his commission fees, and they desired Fofana, not a player like the Frenchman, they wanted him specifically, so paying that much was justified.

Of course, these debates will go on long past this month, or perhaps even this season. However, it has been a big summer for the club, and Furlani, and today he sat down with Abraham to discuss the summer among other topics – his words have been relayed by Milan News.

How important was Abraham’s enthusiasm for the successful outcome of the negotiation?

“It was very important. The other players who arrived also strongly wanted to be part of this Milan project. We thank him for that.”

How do you rate the Milan summer market?

“We did what we wanted to do from the beginning. We are satisfied.”

How come you renewed Jovic and then you took another tip besides Morata?

“We have three competitions plus the Super Cup. There are a lot of games, so it makes sense for us to have three strikers.”

The beginning was not the best. How long will you wait for Fonseca?

“We would have liked to make 9 points, of course, but there is no kind of panic. I wouldn’t talk about important games or anything like that. We are satisfied with the work that the coach has done in preparation, we are with him and the team is also with him.”

What do you think about Ibrahimovic’s absence in Rome?

“Zlatan had made a commitment for a long time, since before arriving at Milan. Announce it first? I don’t think we have to announce every move. There was me, Moncada and also the owner.”

How do you judge the Theo Hernandez-Leao case?

“There has been a lot of talk about it, indeed too much. We on the management and the players themselves were surprised by the reaction that took case. It’s a non-event for us.”

Instead of doing an all-in on a single player, you prefer to make more shots from 20-25 million…

“In football, we focus on price and not on value. We are convinced that we have taken strong players who will contribute to Milan’s success.”

It’s the most complicated moment since you’ve been a manager. Did you ever regret the choice you made?

“I didn’t think about it. It’s not a pleasant moment, but we would get out of it by staying together and working.”
