According to L’Équipe, should Fenway Sports Group be successful in their attempted takeover of Bordeaux, they plan to manage the club separately from Liverpool. As a result, the clubs would not be run in tandem by the same board or managerial figures.

Following Bordeaux’s demotion to the third tier of French football at a DNCG hearing on Monday, FSG announced in an official statement that they had entered negotiations to take over Les Girondins. The French club have historically been one of the most successful and biggest clubs in France but since their relegation to Ligue 2 have undergone financial difficulties which has now seen them demoted to the third division – Championnat National.

A separate project

FSG have received plaudits for their management of Liverpool in which they have managed to build a successful period in charge of the club with little net spend on transfers and large investments into facilities and Anfield. The prospect of Bordeaux being a separate project with a proven track record within the game will likely come as positive news to fans of the club.
