Fresh twist – Bayern star’s agent angry with club over renewal talks, will meet Real Madrid in January
Just when it appeared like Real Madrid might end up missing out on the signing of Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, there appears to be a fresh twist in the tale.
For the longest time, it appeared like the 24-year-old Canadian star would be signing for Los Blancos once his contract expires at the end of the season.
However, recent reports from Germany suggested that there had been a U-turn in the situation and that Bayern Munich had made significant progress in tying Davies down to a new deal after he agreed to reduce his financial demands.
In fact, earlier today, the Bavarian club’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, insisted that they were quite positive about how things are progressing.
Things not as they seem
However, now, a fresh update from journalist Christian Falk suggests that things might not be as they seem as far as Bayern Munich and Davies’ future are concerned.
Indeed, as per the report, the left-back’s agent, Nick Huoseh, is angry with Bayern over the manner in which negotiations for his client’s renewal are being carried out.
It is claimed that Huoseh cancelled a scheduled trip to Munich to hold contract discussions and talks were instead held via a video conference but it was not attended by the Bavarian giants’ other director, Max Eberl.
This is said to have come as a surprise to Davies’ camp, with Huoseh unhappy with how the record German champions are handling the matter.
Ready to listen to offers
As such, the report states that Huoseh is now open to listening to fresh proposals for Davies from Real Madrid as well as Premier League giants Manchester United who are also keen on signing him.
It is further claimed that Huoseh has already planned meetings with the Merengues as well as the Red Devils for January, casting serious doubts about Davies’ continuity at Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid, for their part, see the Canadian as an upgrade on the left-back options but will not shell out outrageous signing bonus or salary to secure his signing on a free transfer.
