Freiburg open door for Kiliann Sildillia departure
Ahead of this season, it looked as if Frenchman Kiliann Sildillia (22) would be returning to his home country as Olympique de Marseille looked to pluck the right-back from SC Freiburg. The problem for the fullback who had represented France at the Summer Olympics was that Marseille reportedly did not have the funds to secure his signing, and so instead he remained in Freiburg.
Sildillia missed preseason under new head coach Julian Schuster and has subsequently seen his spot in the team vanish with Lukas Kübler favoured in his place. Sildillia has not started under Schuster in the Bundesliga and has only made eight appearances amounting to just 139 minutes of football.
According to Foot Mercato, with Sildillia’s progress stalling, Freiburg have opened the door for a departure in the upcoming transfer window. The German club have reportedly set a price tag of €12 million. However, the French outlet writes that as for now Marseille are not interested in returning to their previous target.
