Frederik Andersen Activated Off IR, Returns To Lineup For First Time Following Knee Surgery
The Carolina Hurricanes have activated goaltender Frederik Andersen off of IR today and reassigned Dustin Tokarski to the AHL, hence paving the way for Andersen to return to the active lineup for the first time since his Nov. 22 knee surgery.
Andersen, 35, has had an injury-prone career with the Hurricanes and most recently dealt with a knee injury that has kept him out of the lineup since October.
However, when he's played, he's been a really solid goaltender for Carolina and his presence could potentially have a calming effect on the team.
The Dane skated with the team before their Saturday night game against the Vegas Golden Knights although Pyotr Kochetkov manned the starter's crease so it seems Andersen will just be backing up tonight.
However, his next start, which will be his 500th career game, should be coming soon.
