Frank Lampard names “exciting” Chelsea player he wants to see more from
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has revealed he wants to see more from Pedro Neto following Sunday’s draw with Manchester United.
The Blues missed a big opportunity to go third in the league as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, meaning they still haven’t won at the famous ground since 2013.
It could have been worse for Chelsea as they went behind after Bruno Fernandes converted from the penalty spot, but Moises Caicedo rescued a point with a brilliant volley, which moved the Blues into the top four.
Lampard wants to see more from Neto
Having made 11 changes against Newcastle last Wednesday, Maresca reverted back to what he considers his strongest starting eleven.
That meant Neto once again started on the left wing, and he was arguably Chelsea’s most dangerous attacker as the Blues lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
Neto arrived in the summer from Wolves in a deal worth £51.4m and after a slow start to the season has forced his way into Maresca’s best team.
The Portugal international has put in some impressive performances recently and supporters feel they are now starting to see the best of the 24-year-old.
However, Lampard wants to see that level of performance on a more consistent basis and cited Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer as examples.
“Cole Palmer is out on his own because he has developed to the moon very quickly, and now we see Jackson has done that quickly as well,” he told Sky Sports.
“When will we see Neto because Neto looks really exciting to me? When are we really going to see him go and show that consistently?”

It feels there’s still plenty more to come from Neto and right now he appears to have displaced Jadon Sancho on the left wing, but the Portuguese can also play on the right meaning he’s an option on both flanks for Maresca.
Neto will likely be rested for Thursday night’s Conference League game against Noah, before the Blues face Arsenal in a big London derby on Sunday.
