Frank on Jensen, Damsgaard improvement and Brentford future

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been speaking to the media before Saturday's Premier League game against Ipswich Town (kick-off 15:00 BST).

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

  • Frank confirmed Mathias Jensen will be back involved with the squad having been out with a calf injury since mid-September.

  • On Rico Henry's fitness: "He's getting closer but not close enough. We want to get it right with him. When you've been out for a long time, we want to be sure when we put him out on the pitch that he's ready."

  • On Mikkel Damsgaard's improved performances: "I think a part of our philosophy and strategy is to buy good young players, develop them and make them better. We have done that for many years and we are good at it. Some players it will happen after six months [or] one year and now Damsgaard is taking big steps after two years. Every pathway is different but patience is definitely a key word. A big praise for him and I'm so pleased for him."

  • Frank has been "very impressed and very happy" with Bryan Mbeumo's start to the season, praising the forward's "fantastic mentality."

  • He said the Brentford fans have been "fantastic" this season and has called on them to "push us forward" on Saturday.

  • On his future at the club: "First and foremost, I'm very, very happy here. It's a fantastic club with fantastic players, staff and owners, but who knows what will happen in the future? It's impossible to say that I will stay here forever because life changes, things change - maybe they will kick me out. If we're talking about a bigger club - is a bigger club a bigger challenge? It's a different challenge. But it's irrelevant. I have a game tomorrow against Ipswich that we need to do our very best to try and win."
