Francesco Totti discusses Roma’s transfer market, De Rossi and more: “The club didn’t seek me out.”
Roma legend Francesco Totti gave a lengthy interview to Sky Sport in which he commented on various topics for the new season.
The legendary captain discussed, among other things, the rumors of his possible return to the club.
“In Rome there is a lot of talk about my return, but the truth is that there is nothing to it. Nobody ever called me. They didn’t seek me out. And I didn’t expect them to. But we are all happy, both me and them. Maybe the fans a little less…”
“Why club legends like Totti, Maldini and Del Piero have been left out of their respective clubs? You become cumbersome, an important name overshadows everything else. But this happens also if you are competent and important. If we are not taken into consideration, we are obviously tied to other objectives and thoughts.”
“Did I like Roma’s transfer business? Yes and no. Near the end they tried a bit of everything and risked it all. Now it’s up to De Rossi to set the team well on the pitch, to ensure that the players get back to their best condition. In the last month we have spoken with each other often and willingly, he is happy with what he is doing and now he will try to do better because he didn’t think the team would start so badly. He has the desire and the mindset to improve.”
“Baldanzi? I have always liked him as a footballer and and as a man, he is humble, simple and always makes himself available. He has a career ahead of him, making comparisons is also an understatement. He scored these three goals with the Under 21s and I’m happy for him, I hope that they are a good omen.”
