Marcus Thuram joins Lautaro Martinez, Mauro Icardi, and Christian Vieri in an elite club at Inter Milan with his brace against Atalanta.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note that the Frenchman has become the fourth Inter player to score four goals inside three Serie A matches.

Thuram scored his second brace of the season yesterday against Atalanta. And it is only August.

The 27-year-old had already forced Atalanta defender Berat Djimsiti into an own goal within the first couple minutes of play.

But then Thuram showed all of his instincts in the penalty area to bag a couple goals for himself.

It was the former Borussia Monchengladbach striker whose goals ultimately ensured that Inter won the match by a dominant scoreline.

Thuram had already score two goals in one match for Inter this season.

The Frenchman found the back of the net twice in the Nerazzurri’s first match of the season away to Genoa.

However, in that case Thuram’s brace was only good enough to give Inter a 2-2 draw.

Thuram has gotten off to a racing start, currently sitting atop the list of not just Inter’s but all of Serie A’s top scorers.

Last season, it had been Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez who had done so.

The Argentine – who has yet to score this season – was already on five goals after just three matches at this stage of last campaign.

Prior to that, only two Inter players had ever reached four goals after three Serie A matches.

Christian Vieri had done so twice. The former Italian international did so during the opening matches of the 1999-2000 and 2003-04 seasons.

And then, former Inter captain Mauro Icardi also did so. This came at the start of the 2017-18 campaign.
