Striker Marcus Thuram is hoping to get back to his “turbo” start for Inter Milan against Torino after slowing down a bit.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

In Inter’s first three matches of the season before the September international break, Thuram was undoubtedly the Nerazzurri’s outstanding player.

The Frenchman scored braces against the likes of Genoa and Atalanta.

This was particularly important for Inter considering that captain Lautaro Martinez started the season out of form.

Martinez is normally a prolific and steady source of goals for Inter. However, the lack of a proper preseason saw the Argentine looking far from his sharpest in the final third.

Nevertheless, Thuram made up for Martinez’s slow start by beginning the campaign on fire.

After the September international break, however, Thuram has not managed to score for Inter.

That is not necessarily to say that the 27-year-old’s performances have been bad.

Thuram has certainly looked at home leading the line for the Nerazzurri, where he has made his contribution to the team’s buildup play and kept the ball up the pitch.

Moreover, Thuram’s lack of goals hasn’t really hurt Inter.

Other than a chastening loss to AC Milan, the Nerazzurri have found other sources of goals. Not least, captain Lautaro Martinez starting to get back to his best.

But Thuram will still personally want to recapture the spark from the first few weeks of the campaign.

For the Nerazzurri, this would certainly be an enticing prospect.

Rather than having Thuram and Martinez essentially alternating prolific periods, the two strikers could both be free-scoring.

And this evening’s Serie A clash with Torino will be an opportunity for Thuram to try and reach that level.
