Four teenage talents train with Barcelona first team ahead of Villarreal clash
Barcelona will travel to Estadio de la Ceramica tomorrow as they take on Villarreal in Matchweek six of the 2024/25 La Liga.
With five wins in five games, Hansi Flick’s side have been the team to beat in the Spanish top flight this season and will be aiming to extend their perfect start tomorrow.
With preparations underway for the game at Ciutat Esportiva today, there were a couple of notable absentees from group training as both Pedri and Marc Casado worked inside the gym facilities.
Four youth talents called up
Meanwhile, journalist Victor Navarro reports that as many as four youth prospects have been called up to train with the first team by Barcelona boss Hansi Flick.
Indeed, Toni Fernandez, Guille Fernandez, Andres Cuenca, and Aron Yaakobishvili are all part of the first-team training session today before the Villarreal clash.
At this point, the presence of the Fernandez cousins, Toni and Guille, in the first-team training sessions is pretty much given, considering how highly Flick rates them.
Guille was part of the matchday squad against Girona last weekend while both the cousins travelled to Monaco for the midweek clash. As such, they could once again be called up for the trip to Villarreal tomorrow.
Andres Cuenca has also been called up fairly regularly to shore up the defensive numbers in the absence of players like Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo.
As for Yaakobishvili, the young goalkeeper has been called up as a replacement for the usual third-choice goalkeeper, Ander Astralaga, who will be with Barça Atletic following the injury to Diego Kochen.
