Four hilarious moments from Saturday's Diamondbacks-Giants game

Hopefully you watched our MLB Free Game of the Day on Yahoo Sports on Saturday afternoon. If so, you were witness to a pretty solid ballgame, as the first-place Giants knocked off the last-place Diamondbacks 4-2 at AT&T Park.

Beyond that though, if you stuck around for the entire game, you were also witness to all the bizarre and hilarious moments that took place both on the field and in the stands.

For example, one fan’s run to the concession stand was completely ruined when Paul Goldschmidt’s foul ball destroyed everything in her hands.

According to MLB.com, the fan, whose name is Thea Vierling, said she initially caught the ball in her cup of beer, only to have the ball crack the cup and obliterate her entire food tray. It was quite a mess, but there was a happy ending as another fan retrieved the ball and gave it to Vierling for a well-deserved souvenir.

That was one funny incident. Here are three more, beginning with chaos orchestrated by the sun.

That’s National League former All-Star Final Vote hopeful Jake Lamb, and apparently he’s not clear on the most effective place to put his sunglasses.

Lamb put them on his hat, and indeed the ball dropped right on his shoulder before dropping to the ground. That allowed Brandon Crawford to reach safely. One batter later, insult was added to embarrassment, as Grant Green launched a two-run home run that gave San Francisco the lead for good.

It’s a rare moment when Buster Posey isn’t on the same page with one of his pitchers. So rare, in fact, that even when they’re not completely in sync, everything still works out.

This throw is a pretty good example. Even with Jake Peavy’s attention elsewhere, Posey is able to land a perfect throw in his glove that Peavy didn’t even have to see to catch. That’s unbelievable.

And now, the main event.

All Giants reliever Javier Lopez wanted to do was get to the bullpen to warmup. Unfortunately, his short trip ended with an embarrassing fall that was witnessed by everyone in the ballpark and watching at home.

Ouch.

Fortunately for Lopez, he’s been in the spotlight a time or 810 before, so he knows how to rally. That he did here, retiring the lone batter he faced on just two pitches to help contribute to Saturday’s win.
