A Fortnite championship is coming to Fort Worth. $3 million in winnings is on the line

E-sports players from all over the world are coming to Fort Worth.

About 150 players will compete in the Fortnite Battle Royale and Rocket League World Championship in September.

Hosted by BLAST, the competitions will be held at Dickies Arena and feature players from 35 countries. Four players from Texas are among the finalists. Winners will receive a combined total of over $3 million in prizes.

What is the Fortnite Battle Royale?

50 of the world’s best Fortnite competitive pairs will compete in the Fortnite championship on Sept. 7- 8. The players will compete for a piece of the $2,002,000 prize pool.

Here’s what to know about the Texas Fortnite finalists, per BLAST

  • Cooper: After winning in Denmark last year, Cooper currently holds the title of Fortnite champion worldwide. He is from Round Rock, Texas. Together, he and his teammate, Khanada, will attempt to defend his trophy in Fort Worth in front of a home crowd for his team, Dignitas.

  • Clix: Clix recently moved to Dallas from Connecticut and plans to compete for his team, XSET, which he co-owns. Not only is Clix a fierce rival, he’s also a content creator and the most watched English Fortnite streamer globally.

About the Rocket League World Championship

The 2024 Rocket League championship will run from Sept. 10-15.

Organizers characterize the competition as a furious blend of arcade-style soccer and vehicle mayhem.

Dickies Arena will host a live audience viewing of the competition’s final three days from Sept. 13-15.

The 16 top international teams will compete and conclude the season with a $1,165,000 prize fund.

Here’s what to know about the Texas based Rocket League players, per BLAST.

  • ApparentlyJack: Determined to become the first British winner on American soil since 2019, ApparentlyJack is moving to Dallas from the UK to enhance his competitive career.

  • Hockser: Born in Pittsburgh and raised in Dallas, Hockser is a seasoned RLCS player who currently plays for Spacestation Gaming, one of the top teams in North America. He has been competing since 2018.

The 35 countries will be represented in the competition supported by the Fort Worth Sports Commission, BLAST, Live Nation, and C3 presents. Tickets for both events are now available and can be purchased on the Dickies Arena website.
