Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix: Start time, TV, streaming, starting grid for 2023 race

The 2023 Formula 1 season is chugging along and, after a week break, is back for the Canadian Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen is firmly atop the leaderboard after seven races. The Red Bull Racing driver is coming off his fifth win of the season – and third in a row – after taking home the trophy at the Spanish Grand Prix. His rivals at Mercedes – Lewis Hamilton and George Russell – joined him on the podium after the team made significant upgrades to their cars.

Hamilton is tied with F1 icon Michael Schumacher for most victories at the Canadian Grand Prix with seven. His last victory there was in 2019.

American driver Logan Sargeant will attempt to get out of the bottom five for only the second time this season. This week, the Williams driver joined McLaren CEO Zak Brown and driver Lando Norris in investing in the F1 Arcade, which will open its first stateside location in Boston next year and plans to have 30 locations worldwide by 2027.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen takes pole position for Sunday's race after struggling in practice on Friday. He's joined on the front row by Haas' Nico Hulkenberg, who gets his best start since the 2016 Austrian Grand Prix. Last season, Kevin Magnussen achieved the American team's first pole position at the Brazilian Grand Prix under similar rainy conditions.

“First row is nice, it’s very sweet," Hulkenberg said after qualifying. "Let’s see how long we can keep that.”

Verstappen, who sits atop the leaderboard with five wins in seven races, is confident in his abilities to stay in front for the race no matter the conditions.

"I like driving in the wet," he said. "I come from Holland, so we are used to driving in the wet.”

Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso will start P3, his fourth Top 3 start of the season. He will be joined by Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton at P4 as he continues his streak of never qualifying outside of the Top 5 in Montréal.

American driver Logan Sargeant had another slow outing for Williams and will start P19.
