Former West Ham United defender Hawa Cissoko has joined Italian Serie A Femminile eBay club AS Roma on a free transfer.

The Magic One announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Cissoko joins AS Roma after leaving former club West Ham United at the end of last season. It has been reported that the 27-year-old French international defender has signed a three-year deal with the Italian club.

West Ham United signed Cissoko from French club ASJ Soyaux in summer 2020. The defender went on to become a huge fans’ favourite in her time in East London. Cissoko quickly established herself as one of the most physical and commanding defensive players in the Barclays Women’s Super League. In her time at West Ham United, Cissoko made 67 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she scored two goals.

Cissoko joins an AS Roma side that were crowned Serie A Femminile eBay champions last season. The club have now won back-to-back league titles, ending nearest rivals Juventus’ five-year dominance of the Italian game. Cissoko will be hoping to impress in her time in Italy whilst adding some much deserved silverware to her personal collection.
