Former TCU standout has career day, making two touchdown catches against Panthers

It was the NFL breakout game that Quentin Johnston fans had been waiting for.

On Sunday, the former TCU standout caught five passes for 51 yards and two touchdowns in the Los Angeles’ Chargers 26-3 win over the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte.

Johnston caught touchdown passes from Justin Herbert of 29 yards in the first quarter, then of 5 yards in the second quarter as coach Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers improved to 2-0 this season.

The two touchdowns equaled his total from his 2023 rookie season.

He now has eight catches for 81 yards in the two Chargers wins.

Johnston, a standout on the 2023 TCU national runner-up team, has been a bit of a disappointment during his brief NFL career after the Chargers selected him with the 21st pick in the first round of the 2023 draft.

In his rookie season, Johnston caught 38 passes for 431 yards and two touchdowns.

During his college career in Fort Worth, Johnston caught 115 passes for 2,190 yards and 14 touchdowns in 32 games for the Horned Frogs from 2020-22.
