John Klingberg has fought hard to get back to the NHL since his hip surgery back in 2023. Prior to surgery, the veteran defenseman battled through a hip injury that eventually limited him to just 14 games during the 2023-24 season. TSN's Darren Dreger reported on Tuesday that the former Stars blueliner is set to make a possible return to the NHL, garnering interest around the league. The most interest comes from the Oilers, Maple Leafs, and Senators. Toronto would see like the more familiar situation for Klingberg, as the 10-year veteran previously dawn the blue and white last season before succumbing to a hip injury.
Prior to a few stops around the NHL, John Klingberg played eight seasons with the Dallas Stars. During his tenure, Klingberg tallied 374 points in 552 games in green. His most notable season came in 2020 where he helped the Stars reach the Stanley Cup Final before falling short to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games.
