Former Sharks Farmhand To Make Utah HC Debut Against Former Team

Former San Jose Sharks prospect Nick DeSimone will debut tonight for the Utah Hockey Club.

Utah HC claimed the defenseman from the New Jersey Devils on Jan. 5. DeSimone had been with the Devils this season but had not featured in an NHL game. He has played 12 games with the AHL's Utica Comets and has three assists.

DeSimone went undrafted, but the Sharks signed him in 2017. He played for the San Jose Barracuda from 2017 to 2021.

The d-man was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights via Chicago in a three-team trade on April 12, 2021. Vegas received DeSimone from San Jose and Mattias Janmark and a 5th-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft from Chicago.

DeSimone played 190 games for the Cuda and scored 26 goals and 65 assists. His career best season was the 18-19 season, when he scored 14 goals and 32 assists in 65 games.

DeSimone never played a game in the NHL for the San Jose Sharks. He made his NHL debut with the Calgary Flames on Nov. 14, 2022, against the Los Angeles Kings.
