O'Reilly, 33, has appeared in 26 games this season with the Predators, where he has five goals, 14 points, and a minus-13 rating. This is after he had 26 goals and 69 points with the Predators last season.

This is undoubtedly bad news for a Predators club looking to turn around its season. At this juncture of the campaign, the Predators have a 7-14-8 record and fewer points (20) than every team in the NHL besides the Chicago Blackhawks (18). Losing an important forward like O'Reilly will make bouncing back even more challenging for Nashville.

O'Reilly appeared in 224 games over three seasons with the Sabres, posting 65 goals, 111 assists, and 176 points.
