Ex-Real Madrid star Nacho Fernández has this week spoken out on the possibility of linking back up with the European champions mid-season.

The name of defender Nacho has reemerged as a prominent one in the chatter in Spain’s capital over recent days.

This comes after the injury crisis at the heart of Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid backline took another turn for the worse, upon Éder Militão being ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ACL injury.

Speculation in the media has in turn pointed towards the aforementioned Nacho as a potential emergency January signing.

If the latest comments on the part of the veteran stopper himself are anything to go by, however, then no such move will be forthcoming.

During an interview with Cadena COPE, as cited by Fabrizio Romano, on Wednesday, Nacho was asked about linking back up with Los Blancos, just six months on from sealing his departure.

The 34-year-old, though, was unwavering in his response:

“No one from Real Madrid called me. Even if they call me, I’m not going to return. My decision is clear. It’s not about playing or not… my chapter there is closed. I’m very happy in Saudi, my focus is here.”
