Former Rangers defender Rachel McLauchlan has joined Brighton & Hove Albion on a free transfer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Seagulls this afternoon.

McLauchlan joins Brighton & Hove Albion after recently leaving SWPL 1 club Rangers at the end of her contract. The Scotland international has spent the last three seasons with The Gers in which she has won all three domestic trophies. McLauchlan has also turned out for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Aberdeen, Hibernian, Yeovil Town and Glasgow City in her career to date.

On the international stage, McLauchlan has been capped by Scotland on 23 occasions as senior level. She has been in and out of the squad in recent years.

After adding McLaughlan to the Brighton & Hove Albion squad, the club’s managing director of women’s and girls’ football, Zoe Johnson said “We’re delighted to welcome Rachel to the club. She’s an experienced player who’s competed in cup finals and the Champions League, as well as on the international stage for Scotland.

“She’s developed her career in the last few seasons with Rangers and we’re looking forward to seeing her thrive in the WSL.”

McLauchlan becomes Brighton & Hove Albion’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
