Former Manchester United, Man City and West Ham striker Carlos Tevez has been hospitalised in Buenos Aires with chest pains.

The 40-year-old was taken to hospital on Tuesday after complaining about pain in his chest and subsquently kept in overnight.

Tevez, who is currently head coach at Argentine side Independiente, remains in hospital on Wednesday for further tests after initial "studies" came back clear.

Independiente posted on X: "Our coach, Carlos Tevez, entered the La Trinidad Sanatorium in San Isidro with chest pain.

"They carried out the corresponding studies and they were satisfactory. Tomorrow you will continue with a series of exams scheduled in advance as part of a general check-up that is usually carried out."

A later post added: "Carlos Tevez will be hospitalised as a precaution until the corresponding studies are completed."

Tevez started his playing career with Boca Juniors and then Corinthians before a shock move, with Javier Mascherano, to West Ham. A move to United followed a year later, where he won the Champions League, before four years with rivals City.
