Former Penguins Draft Pick Signs with Americans

The Allen Americans added to their forward depth by signing Liam Gorman for the 2024-25 season.

The Arlington, Massachusetts native was taken 177th by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft before starting his collegiate career at Princeton, where he tallied 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points in his final season there.

The 24-year-old Gorman played for UMass-Amherst last season, appearing in 28 games and contributing a goal and three assists for four points. He blocked 13 shots and won 56.6% of his faceoffs. His only goal came in the NCAA Regional Semifinal against Denver.

Gorman played high school hockey at St. Sebastian's, where he was a two-time team captain. He guided the club to the finals of the Independent School League (ISL) in 2019.

Gorman's father, Sean, also played at Princeton and was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 12th round of the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. He played four professional seasons in the AHL, IHL AND CHL.

Liam's brother, Brendan, also plays at Princeton and is entering his junior year.

"I can't wait to get things rolling in October," Gorman said after the signing was announced. "I'm really excited for this new challenge, and ready to make my way down to Texas."
