Former Oilers Goalie Has Uncertain Recovery Timeline
EDMONTON -- It's better to ere on the side of caution.
That's certainly an excellent approach to recovering from injury. If a player returns too quickly, it could be even more damaging than the original injury.
Former Edmonton Oilers goalie Laurent Brossoit is recovering from injury but has yet to play a single game for his new team, the Chicago Blackhawks.
Brossoit signed a two-year deal on July 1st worth $3.3 million. Then, on August 27th, he had successful surgery on the meniscus of his right knee. Recovery was projected to take five to seven weeks.
On Tuesday, it will be 11 weeks.

Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson provided an update on his condition yesterday. He said there isn't a set timetable for when he will return. He expressed that the recovery has taken much longer than initially anticipated and that they don't know when he will return.
This is obviously a frustrating situation for the team and the Brossoit.
The 31-year-old goaltender has earned a reputation as a solid backup goalie. Last year, he returned to the Winnipeg Jets after two seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights.
He played 23 games, had a 15-5-2 record, a 2.00 goals against average, a .927 save percentage, and three shutouts.
Brossoit last played during the playoffs. On April 28th, he came in relief of Connor Hellebuyck and made four saves on four shots in 18 minutes of work.
