Adam Benak is certainly making a substantial impression. The Czechia player is small in stature, but not in skill. The 5-foot-7 and 157 lb forward already has seven points in two tournament games this year.
Last year Benak recorded 10 points in five games. With a combined 17 points, he has broken the record for most all-time points by a forward in the competition.
The previous record was 15 points, held by former Oilers' forward, Magnus Paajarvi.
Paajarvi spent three seasons playing for the Oilers and their affiliates. After he was drafted 10th overall in the 2009 Entry Draft he would play 163 games for the team. He recorded 58 points in that span, and was eventually traded to the St. Louis Blues for David Perron in the summer of 2013.
Paajarvi played in the NHL until the 2018-19 season. He would never eclipse his rookie season point totals with the Oilers. In the 2010-11 season he collected 34 points in 80 games while playing 15:23 a night.
Last year Paajarvi played his second full season with Timra IK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He recorded 20 points in 49 games.
The Hlinka-Gretzky tournament will conclude on Saturday August 10th.
