Former Nittany Lion Stephen Nedoroscik wins bronze medal for Team USA in men’s gymnastics

A former Nittany Lion earned a medal Monday afternoon at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Stephen Nedoroscik won the bronze as a member of Team USA in the men’s gymnastics team final.

Nedoroscik competed at Penn State from 2017-2020, earning the 2020 Nissen-Emery Award for the best senior male collegiate gymnast in the country. He also won two national titles as a Nittany Lion in the pommel horse, but was unable to try for a third as a senior in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The former Penn Stater went last for Team USA on the pommel horse, needing to score well in order to secure the medal for the United States. He scored a 14.866 to close out the final and secure the bronze for himself and the rest of the team — Asher Hong, Paul Juda, Brody Malone and Frederick Richard.

Team USA finished behind Japan and China, which took home the gold and silver medals, respectively.

Nedoroscik will have another go at a medal Saturday morning in the pommel horse final.
