Former NFL lineman Nate Menkin joining Ottawa RedBlacks

Former Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Nate Menkin is in the process of finalizing a two-year contract with the Ottawa RedBlacks of the Canadian Football League, according to a league source.

Menkin has drawn interest from the Miami Dolphins for a potential tryout.

Menkin is weighing whether he'll pursue the NFL right now or chart a course to the NFL via the CFL.

The Texans had Menkin on their practice squad last season after he was cut during the final major roster cutdown last year.

Menkin was acquired via a trade from the Eagles for wide receiver Jeff Maehl.

Menkin is a 6-foot-5, 300-pounder from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
