Former Manchester United winger Nani has bought a large stake in Portuguese club SU Sintrense.

The now 37 year old joined United in 2007 from Sporting Lisbon and enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at the club.

In his first season he won the Premier League and Champions League double and would go on to lift three more league titles, two league cups and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Nani would spend eight seasons at the club, scoring 40 goals in 230 appearances.

The former Portugal international has played for numerous sides across the globe since leaving United in 2015 and he left his latest team Adana Demirspor in May.

Whilst still not retired, the 37 year old is clearly thinking about his future after he hangs up his boots with the purchase of the fourth division outfit.

The Sun report that “Nani, 37, has now bought a 95 per cent stake in SU Sintrense together with a group of investors.”

“The club is based at Sintra, north-west of Lisbon and close to his birthplace Amadora.”

They were founded 112 years ago and they currently play in the fourth-tier Campeonato de Portugal.

They finished fifth last season with 40 points from 26 games and play in the Estadio do Sport União, which has a maximum capacity of 2,800 people.

“However their ambitious new owners plan to invest heavily to get them into the Primeira Liga.”

Nani is not the only player with United connections to get into the club buying business as of late as Casemiro, who could be on his way out of United this summer, has already started preparing for life after the game.

The Brazilian joined Spanish side Marbella FC as a director and he has also become a shareholder at the club.
