According to information by Ouest France, FC Nantes are set to sign ex-Olympique Lyonnais defender Henrique (30) on a free transfer. Henrique left Lyon at the end of his contract after three years with the club.

Over his three-year stay in Lyon, Henrique was mostly used as a backup option making 45 appearances for the team and only 13 last season as the understudy to Nicolás Tagliafico (31). However, at FC Nantes the left-back will hope to see more regular game time.

This position has been a problem area for the club since they sold both Quentin Merlin (22) and Jaouen Hadjam (21) during the winter transfer window. Nantes ended the season with only one recognised left-back in the squad, Nicolas Cozza (25) who has since returned to his parent club VfL Wolfsburg after his loan ended.

Henrique had been in negotiations with Nantes since the end of June but the two parties still needed to agree on financial terms.
