Everton have completed the signing of former Liverpool winger Melissa Lawley on a free transfer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blue Girls this afternoon.

Lawley joins Everton after leaving former club Liverpool at the end of last season. The 30-year-old winger spent five seasons with The Reds after joining the club from Manchester City in summer 2019. Lawley is a hugely experienced player with more than 200 club appearances under her belt. She has also been capped by England on 12 occasions at senior level.

After completing her move to Everton, Lawley said “I’m really excited for the next challenge in my career. I’ve spent five years in Merseyside and I’m excited to now be a Blue.

“I fell in love with the people, with the fans. Every time I played against Everton, the fans were amazing, even if they gave me a bit of stick. I’m excited to now be on their side and helping Everton to become successful.”

Lawley becomes Everton’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window. Manager Brian Sørensen is expected to make further additions to his squad before the start of the new season at the end of September.
