Former Lightning Forward Signs With New Team

Former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Boris Katchouk has signed a professional tryout (PTO) agreement with the Anaheim Ducks. In addition to Katchouk, the Ducks have also signed defenders Mark Pysyk and Gustav Lindstrom to PTOs.

When taking a gander at the Ducks' current roster, there is no question that they could use another bottom-six forward. Thus, it makes sense that they have invited Katchouk to training camp on a PTO. If he impresses Anaheim and secures a contract for the season, he would give them another potential option for their fourth line.

Katchouk appeared in 59 games split between the Chicago Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators this past season, recording seven goals, 13 points, and 82 hits. He also spent a brief chunk of the season in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs, where he had three goals and two assists in six games.

The Lightning selected Katchouk with the 44th overall pick of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-2 forward played in 38 games for the Lightning in 2021-22, posting two goals, four assists, and 25 penalty minutes. However, his stint with the Bolts ended later that season after he was traded to the Blackhawks as a part of the Brandon Hagel trade.
