Former Kraken Forward Placed On Waivers By Utah HC

Former Seattle Kraken forward Kailer Yamamoto has been placed on waivers by Utah HC.

The 26-year-old played one season with the Kraken scoring eight goals and 16 points in 59 games. He never found a rhythm or chemistry with any teammates which led to a disappointing season.

When the season concluded, GM Ron Francis said the team would not be tendering a qualifying offer to Yamamoto, allowing him to be a free agent. Yamamoto spent the entire offseason as a free agent until Utah invited him to their training camp on a professional try-out.

When pre-season and training camp finished, they offered him a one-year, $775,000 contract.

Utah has played eight games so far and Yamamoto has featured in just three of them, failing to record a point and registering just one shot on goal. The Spokane, Washington native was a 2017 first-round pick, 22nd overall to the Edmonton Oilers but his career hasn't panned out the way he had hoped. He scored 20 goals in the 2021-22 season but has failed to replicate that output.

Moving to a third team in his career, Yamamoto was hoping to find success but after just three games, he could possibly be on the move to another team or back in the AHL.
