The 33-year-old was drafted eighth overall by the organization in the 2010 NHL draft and went on to play five seasons, scoring 30 goals and 81 points in 298 games.
When Burmistrov was 25 years old, the Jets placed him waivers and he was claimed by the Arizona Coyotes, where he played 26 games. He played one final year in the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks before going back to Russia to play out the rest of his career in the KHL.

His NHL career never panned out how he and the Jets would have liked, but he has gone on to play a long KHL career. He hasn't been able to put up the goals and point totals some other Russian players have when leaving the NHL, but the 6'1 centre has seen a lot of team success throughout his career, winning the Gagarin Cup, gold and brozne at the World Championship and silver at the U-18s.
It took Burmistrov quite some time to find a team this season, but he'll be joining a KHL club sitting in fifth place out of 11 Western Conference teams and one that includes ex-NHLers Cédric Paquette, Jordan Weal, Maxime Comtois, Anton Slepyshev, Nikita Gusev, and recently-acquired Dylan Sikura. The team also includes prospects Daniil Pylenkov (Tampa Bay Lightning), Dmitri Rashevsky (Winnipeg) and Yegor Rimashevsky (San Jose Sharks).
