Former Golden Knights Goaltender Off To 6-0-0 Start With New Team

Former Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Logan Thompson is out to a 6-0-0 start with the Washington Capitals.

The 27-year-old has posted a .903 SV% and a 2.81 GAA, facing 176 shots, 29.3 shots per game. One of Thompson's six wins came against the Golden Knights where he stopped 24 of the 26 shots he faced.

Thompson requested a trade after he informed the Golden Knights he wanted to be the teams No. 1 goaltender. When GM Kelly McCrimmon told him they believed Adin Hill was best suited to be their starter, Thompson formally requested a trade.

With the Capitals, he has the opportunity to fight for that role with Charlie Lindgren. At the moment, Lindgren has played seven games and Thompson just six, but Thompson is in line to start his seventh game tonight against the St. Louis Blues.

Out of the two netminders, Thompson has had more success. Lindgren has started in all four of the Capitals' losses and has a .897 SV% and a 2.76 GAA.

Tonight is another opportunity for Thompson to take another step in possibly solidifying his desired role. The Capitals sit two points back of first place in the Metropolitan Division and take on a Blues team that has been inconsistent to start the season.

Here in Vegas, Hill has steadily improved as the season has gone along and Ilya Samsonov, outside of his most recent outing has been lights out. It's too early to say the Golden Knights miss Thompson, but as of now, the move to the Capitals has paid off for him.
