Former Golden Knights Forward Is Out For The Season With An ACL Injury

Former Vegas Golden Knights forward Anthony Mantha is out for the season with an ACL injury.

The operation is scheduled for this Thursday, and with Mantha sidelined for the entire year, his future with the Calgary Flames is now uncertain.

Mantha was acquired by the Golden Knights ahead of the 2024 trade deadline from the Washington Capitals. After the move he played 18 games, scoring three goals and 10 points. Throughout his career, a known flaw of Mantha is that he can lose his intensity and be somewhat of a passenger. HC Bruce Cassidy felt this way as he scratched Mantha for four out of the seven playoff games.

It was apparent that Mantha and the Golden Knights were going to part ways in the offseason and it was confirmed when he signed a one-year contract with the Flames. The plan for the Flames was to flip him at the deadline to a contending team but the injury changes everything for them.

Mantha was off to a strong start to the season, building early chemistry with playmaker Jonathan Huberdeau. Through 13 games, the 30-year-old scored four goals and seven points.

It's unfortunate for the 6'5 winger who despite lots of criticism, has improved many of the teams he's played with. Those teams include the Flames, Golden Knights, Capitals and Detroit Red Wings.

Mantha will become a UFA at the end of the season and will once again be looking for a contract.
