Former Flames Player Suffers Upper Body Injury

On the same night, the Calgary Flames lost Connor Zary after a knee-on-knee hit during their contest with the Anaheim Ducks, and the Columbus Blue Jackets lost Sean Monahan to an upper-body injury on the other side of the continent.

During the Blue Jackets' contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena, the former Calgary Flames forward apparently got injured in the second period and skated one brief shift in the third before departing to the dressing room.

Head coach Dean Evason did not update Monahan's condition during the post-game media availability. However, other reporters on social media pointed out that he was wearing a wrist brace upon exiting the building.

Through 41 games, Monahan scored 41 points thanks to 14 goals and 27 assists to rank third in the Columbus lineup. After battling various injuries over the past few seasons, he remained healthy for an entire campaign, skating in 83 games last year, splitting time between Montreal and Winnipeg.
