Former Flames Draft Pick Makes First Return To Saddledome
The Washington Capitals visit the Scotiabank Saddledome on Tuesday night, meaning that former Calgary Flames sixth-round draft pick and 30-goal scorer Andrew Mangiapane is returning for the first time as a visitor.
"I'm sure it'll be a little weird being on the opposing side, but I'm sure my teammates here will help me out and bring their A game."

Originally drafted 166th overall in the 2015 Draft, Mangiapane played seven seasons with the Flames, scoring 109 goals and 106 assists for 215 points in 417 games.
He was pointless in his first ten NHL games in 2017-18 before scoring eight goals and 13 points in 44 games in 2018-19.

Eventually, Mangiapane had a breakout campaign at 23, scoring 17 goals and 32 points in 2019-20. He duplicated that production the following season before a career year in 2021-22, the same year the Flames won the Pacific Division title.
In 82 games, Mangiapane scored 35 goals with 55 points to finish fourth in team scoring. He chipped in three goals and six points in 12 playoff games that season.
Unfortunately, once teammates like Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, Matthew Tkachuk, and Elias Lindholm left, Mangiapane's production dipped, and he never came close to 30 goals again, let alone 20.
Over the last 157 games with Calgary, the now 28-year-old scored only 31 goals and 83 points with a plus-19 rating.
On June 27, 2024, the Flames traded Mangiapane to the Capitals for a second-round pick in the upcoming 2025 Draft. He's contributed ten goals and 17 points in 48 contests with the NHL's best team.
While skating with the Flames, Mangiapane played 208 games at the Saddledome, scoring 48 goals and 63 assists for 111 points, the seventh-best totals since his debut in 2017-18.
