Former Devils Star Thriving With New Team
Former New Jersey Devils forward Tyler Toffoli signed a four-year, $24 million contract with the San Jose Sharks this past off-season. With this move, the expectation was that the 32-year-old winger would be an impactful veteran forward for the Sharks as they continue their rebuild.
So far, it is fair to say that Toffoli has been just that early on in his Sharks tenure.
Toffoli, 32, has been one of the Sharks' top offensive contributors so far this campaign. In 39 games, he has a team-leading 14 goals and ranks fifth on the club with 25 points. With numbers like these, he has been an excellent addition to San Jose's top six. He has also provided value as a leader in their room and sports an 'A' on his sweater because of it.
Toffoli is not showing any signs of slowing down, either. The Scarborough native is currently on a hot streak right now, posting three points over his last three games.
Seeing Toffoli find success with the Sharks is not surprising. He was solid last season with the Devils before being traded to the Winnipeg Jets, posting 26 goals and 44 points in 61 games. Now, he is again having a strong campaign in San Jose, and it will be interesting to see if he can keep this play up from here.
