Former Crystal Palace defender Polly Doran has joined Swedish Damallsvenskan club Linköping FC on a free transfer.

LFC announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Doran joins Linköping upon the expiry of her contract at former club Crystal Palace. She has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Swedish club.

The defender spent two seasons with former club Crystal Palace. She made 25 appearances for The Eagles in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she scored one goal. Doran helped Crystal Palace to the Barclays Women’s Championship title last season.

The Australian defender will now play her football in Sweden for the first time with Linköping.

Speaking after joining her new club, Doran said “I‘m very excited about being able to come to Linköping. It is a club with a huge history and there are many fine people here and many great players have started their careers here.

“Getting to play in the Swedish league has always been one of my goals because it is one of the top leagues in the world and it is known for having developed many of the world’s best players. I don’t doubt for a second that it will be a fantastic step for my career and I can’t wait until I get to come to Sweden and start playing with the team.

Doran will link-up with her new club at the end of this month.
