Former Chelsea player names one position they need upgrade in to win silverware
A former Chelsea player has said pretty much what many Blues fans are saying and thinking right now as we approach the busy festive period.
Chelsea are eleven games into the new league season now, and things are going well under new head coach Enzo Maresca. There are improvements on the pitch and real noticeable progress. The Blues owners will be very pleased with what they are seeing on the pitch so far this season, especially compared to the other seasons since they have been in charge of the club.

However, although things are going better, most Chelsea fans will agree that there are still some positions within this squad build that need improving and upgrading, and one of them is most certainly the goalkeeper.
Robert Sanchez has just not been good enough, and former Chelsea stopper Mark Schwarzer believes they need an upgrade on him.
Sanchez needs to go
Chelsea seem to rate him highly and have really been doubling down on their acquisition which really, has become quite embarrassing.
But Schwarzer has not been impressed.
He said on The Optus Sport Football Podcast (11th November): “I think David Raya is definitely a better goalkeeper than Robert Sanchez. I think for Chelsea going forward, if Chelsea want to compete at the very highest level and try and win silverware, I think they need another goalkeeper.
“I don’t think Robert Sanchez is the answer. I really don’t. Look, he has got every attribute that you need, but the problem he has got is he has got real inconsistency. An area where I thought he was really going to be good at in playing out, he really, really struggled.”
I completely agree with these comments and I know that many other Chelsea fans do. It’s just the club and Maresca who oddly don’t want to admit it right now.
