Former Canadiens' Reunion For Weber's Hockey Hall Of Fame's Induction
It seems like ages ago that the Montreal Canadiens made it to the Stanley Cup final, led into battle by franchise goaltender Carey Price and Man Mountain blueliner Shea Weber. Last night, as the Canadiens' former captain was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, his former teammate flew to Toronto in droves to mark the occasion.
According to Angela Price's Instagram account, many of the players who were part of the 2021 Stanley Cup final run were present: Ben Chiarot, Karl Alzner (who left the team in 2019-20), Paul Byron, Jake Evans, Joel Armia, Brendan Gallagher, Josh Anderson, Carey Price, Jeff Petry, Cole Caufield, and Nick Suzuki.
From a photo Julie Petry posted to her Instagram, we learned it was Geoff Molson's idea to "Get the band back together for such a special night." This is the kind of initiative that makes the Canadiens a first-class organization, and when the time comes to go big game hunting in free agency or on the trade market, things like this could go a long way toward bringing star players to Montreal.
In a special essay for NHL.com, Price wrote this about the man of the hour:
Webs is known for his shot and bruise-inducing conduct in front of the net, but his most important attribute was his ability to understand when a teammate needed a pat on the back or a kick in the pants. Understanding what action needed to be taken next was his specialty.
As for Brendan Gallagher, he praised the culture the big man brought with him to Montreal and how it's still there to this day.
According to Sportsnet’s Kyle Bukauskas, the six Habs players who played with Shea Weber will travel to Toronto after the game today to attend his Hockey Hall of Fame induction.

Not known as a joker to hockey fans, Weber gave everyone a chuckle during his speech:
"I think I should be thanking David Poile for that, too" 😅

The Canadiens are enjoying a day off today, but they will be back on the ice in Brossard on Wednesday morning before taking off for Minneapolis, Minnesota, where they'll face the Wild on Thursday night.
