Now, after bringing in Evason, the Blue Jackets have made another change behind the bench. This time, it involves a former Boston Bruins forward.

As reported by The Athletic's Aaron Portzline, the Blue Jackets have fired Mark Recchi from his assistant coach position after one season.

Recchi, 56, joined the Blue Jackets coaching staff as an assistant after Mike Babcock was quickly relieved from his duties last offseason. However, his time in Columbus was officially short, and he will now look for opportunities elsewhere.

Recchi has a decent amount of coaching experience on his resume, so he has a chance of landing a new gig in the future. He has been an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils, and Blue Jackets. Furthermore, before becoming an assistant with the Penguins, he was a development coach for Pittsburgh from the 2014-15 season to the 2016-17 season.

Recchi will always be greatly respected by Bruins fans, as his strong secondary offensive production and outstanding leadership were crucial in the Original Six club's 2011 Stanley Cup championship. In 180 regular-season games with the Bruins to finish out his career, he had 42 goals, 107 points, and a plus-14 rating. He also had 14 goals and 30 points in 49 playoff games for the B's over three years.
