Former Bruins Goalie Signs With New Team

Former Boston Bruins goalie Keith Kinkaid has secured a professional tryout (PTO) agreement with the New York Islanders. The veteran netminder is starting off his PTO as a participant at the Islanders' rookie camp.

Kinkaid, 35, spent the entirety of this past season down in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Chicago Wolves. In 24 games with the AHL squad, he posted an 8-14-2 record, a .880 save percentage (SV%), and a 3.54 goals-against average (GAA).

By bringing in Kinkaid on the PTO, the Islanders now have another goalie option to consider for their AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Islanders. If he impresses during training camp and earns a contract, he would be a solid veteran goalie to have in their system.

Kinkaid appeared in one game for the Bruins during the 2022-23 season, saving 30 out of 31 shots. He spent the majority of the campaign with the Providence Bruins, where he had an 8-7-4 record and a .909 SV% in 20 games. His time with the Bruins organization ended later that season when he was traded to the Colorado Avalanche for forward Shane Bowers.

In 169 career NHL games split between the New Jersey Devils, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Bruins, and Avalanche, Kinkaid has a 70-58-21 record, a 2.91 GAA, and a .905 SV%.
