Yahoo Sports Former Brighton star Victoria Williams joins the PFA
Victoria Williams has joined the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) as a Player Services Executive for women’s football.
Williams retired from playing football in May 2023 after a long and successful career in the women’s game. A Yorkshire local, she started out as a youth player with Doncaster Rover Belles. She returned to the club in 2009 and 2013 for spells as a senior.
Williams also spent time with Chelsea and Sunderland before moving to Brighton and Hove Albion. She ended her career with the Seagulls after five years, a club she proudly captained on a number of occasions.
“With all this experience, I have something to give back to the game,” Williams said.
In her role with the PFA, she will help female members engage with the PFA’s support services and ensure that player voices are represented throughout the development of the women’s professional game.
“I myself have benefited from the services that the PFA offer. I want to amplify what the organisation can actually do.
“Sometimes people think that the PFA is only there when something is wrong. But there are so many ways that players can futureproof what they’re going to do while they’re playing in terms of education and post-career.”
Williams will work alongside Head of Women’s Football Marie-Christine Bouchier, as well as fellow former Brighton professional and player services executive Fern Whelan. With the women’s game facing unprecedented change, Williams will support the players services department in ensuring that member voices are heard and represented.
