Former Bayern Munich sporting director Michael Reschke believes that Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz is likely to join Real Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to Reschke, neither Bayern Munich nor Arsenal will secure Wirtz’s signature, as the Spanish giants are now leading the race for the talented midfielder.

Wirtz’s impressive performances this season have drawn attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, who are already laying the groundwork for future transfers.

As a key player for Bayer Leverkusen, the reigning Bundesliga champions, Wirtz has caught the eye of Arsenal and Bayern Munich. However, Real Madrid appear to be in the best position to sign the German international when the transfer window opens.

Reschke is convinced

Reschke is one of the prominent voices who share the view Wirtz’s future is at Santiago Bernabeu. He is confident that although Bayern Munich is one of Europe’s top clubs, Wirtz has his sights set on joining Real Madrid.

Reschke’s opinion aligns with that of other notable figures in football, such as former player Michael Ballack, who also hinted at Wirtz making a move to Madrid in the near future.

He says that although Bayern Munich are “one of the five best clubs in Europe, it is clear that Wirtz is thinking of signing for Real Madrid.”

There is more to it

Reschke speculates that Real Madrid may be preparing for significant changes in the summer, including the possible replacement of current manager Carlo Ancelotti.

He suggests that Xabi Alonso, a former Real Madrid player who currently manages in the Bundesliga, could take over the managerial role at Madrid and bring Wirtz with him.

“My personal opinion is that Wirtz will join Real Madrid. I think Carlo Ancelotti will be replaced by a Spaniard who currently plays in the Bundesliga (Xabi Alonso).

Then it is very possible that he will take his favourite player. I have the feeling that everything could fall into place,” he added.

If this transfer materialises, any club looking to sign Wirtz will have to be prepared to meet Bayer Leverkusen’s hefty asking price, which is expected to be around €150 million.
