Former Barcelona star calls for 3 summer signings

A one-time member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week provided his take on which areas of the club’s current squad are most in need of reinforcement.

As proves the case on a yearly basis, the summer transfer window has coincided with widespread chatter surrounding the plans of the powers that be at Barcelona.

The Blaugrana, to date, have been tipped as a landing spot for a whole host of leading players from across the continent.

And yet, thus far, new head coach Hansi Flick’s squad is yet to be added to be a single fresh face.

Speaking to the media this week, the subject of the ongoing transfer speculation surrounding his former club was therefore put to none other than Rivaldo.

And, in quotes gathered by Diario Sport, the one-time Brazilian international went on to reveal his opinion that three signings are needed at Barcelona, to have any chance of keeping pace with arch rivals Real Madrid.

The positions highlighted as being in need of reinforcement? The Blaugrana’s backline (two players) and attack (one).

“By signing three renowned and quality players, the team will be able to find its place on the pitch for next season,” Rivaldo concluded.
