Former Barcelona forward reflects on Camp Nou days as the best of his career
It has been more than two years since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was forced to leave Barcelona, in the wake of the club’s poor economic condition.
However, many Barcelona fans still fondly remember his time at Camp Nou. Aubameyang spent just six months at Barça. During this time, he racked up as many as 13 goals, earning immense love and support from the Culers.
Aubameyang recalls his time at Barcelona
In a recent media interaction, Aubameyang has recalled his time at Camp Nou, even labelling it as one of the best moments of his career.
“If I had to choose one stage of my career as a footballer, I would choose the one at Barça. There are many moments that I want to remember forever, but I would choose above all the affection of the culers,” he said (h/t FRBarca).
Aubameyang joined Barcelona in early 2022, on a free transfer. During the second half of the 2021/22 campaign, he scored 13 goals in just 24 competitive matches.
Despite an excellent start to his career at Barcelona, though, the Gabonese international had to settle for a move to Chelsea in the following summer, as the club were forced to reduce their wage bill.
Aubameyang currently plies his trade for Saudi Arabian outfit Al Qadsiah. He is teammates with former Real Madrid captain Nacho Fernandez.
Interestingly, Aubameyang was briefly linked with a return to Barcelona, following his stellar performances at Marseille. But a move never materialised and the forward ended up opting for a move to Saudi Arabia.
