Former Arkansas lineman Brian Wallace dies at 26 after heart attack

Former Arkansas offensive lineman Brian Wallace died Friday. He was 26.

Arkansas announced Wallace's death Friday afternoon. He had been hospitalized in St. Louis.

Wallace's father Brian Wallace Sr. told Pig Trail Nation earlier in the week that his son had suffered a heart attack after having trouble breathing at work on Monday. Wallace's father said that Brian then suffered another heart attack at the hospital and was in a coma and unable to breathe on his own.

Thursday morning, Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman had asked for prayers for Wallace and his family.

A St. Louis area native, Wallace was a four-star recruit and the top player in the state of Missouri when he signed with Arkansas in 2014. He was recruited to the school by Pittman when the current head coach was the offensive line coach at the school. Wallace chose Arkansas over SEC rivals Alabama and Georgia and was ranked as the No. 9 offensive tackle in his recruiting class.

After redshirting in his first season at school Wallace became a key part of Arkansas’ offensive line and started all 12 games of his final season at right tackle in 2018. According to Arkansas’ stats department, he gave up just 10 sacks in his college career and started 29 games from 2016-18.
