Singer Michael Grimm, who won Season 5 of "America’s Got Talent," has been hospitalized and sedated following an undisclosed illness, his wife announced Wednesday.

In an Instagram post, fighting back tears, Lucie Zolcerva-Grimm said her 44-year-old husband was in intensive care after looking "sickly" and behaving in a "fussy" way.

She did not immediately disclose what caused Grimm's health issues or say where he is hospitalized.

"It's been an emotional ride," she said in a clip shared with his nearly 7,500 followers on the platform. "I know you all love Michael."

"He was struggling with his health and lacking energy... not being able to fulfill shows," his wife said of the mystery illness, which she at a first thought was a stroke. That medical emergency was later ruled out, she said.

She said her husband, originally from Mississippi, was breathing on his own again but "remains unconscious."

In addition, she said, he must undergo vocal chord repair after having to rely on a ventilator which left him with "no voice."
